Dial 1-800-HSB-1866 For Customer Service

HSB has a new single toll-free number to access all our staff and customer service resources anywhere in the country. Dial 1-800-HSB-1866 (1-800-472-1866) to reach a person in any office, or for help with quotes, underwriting, online applications, and more. The single 800 number replaces more than a dozen toll-free numbers HSB had for individual offices and functions. It's easy to remember: just think HSB and 1866, the year HSB was founded, which appears in our logo. Callers will have the same options, such as reaching a person by dialing their extension or last name, with the added convenience of a single number. Service hours for HSB Customer Solutions, which offers live assistance with policy processing, products and Web applications, have been extended to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST.

The announced sale of Hartford Steam Boiler to Munich Re Group offers HSB superior financial strength and new opportunities to grow our business and expand our specialty product offerings for our partner insurance companies, HSB President and Chief Executive Officer Douglas G. Elliot said.

OUTSTANDING FINANCIAL STRENGTH
"This is terrific news for you and HSB," Elliot noted. "A carrier's financial stability is more important than ever and clients are seeking superior financial strength. With Munich Re's outstanding financial resources behind HSB, we can provide your customers the reassurance they're looking for in today's uncertain market."

CLOSING EXPECTED EARLY 2009
In December 2008, it was announced that Munich Re Group, one of the world's leading reinsurance organizations, would purchase HSB Group, Inc., and all of its subsidiaries, including The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, from American International Group, Inc. The transaction is expected to close in early 2009 subject to certain conditions, including approvals by regulatory authorities.
