Print Data Restored
Computer array print servers for a commercial printer went down when five of eight hard disk drives in
the system were damaged. The hardware was replaced without charge, but lost data had to be recovered
by an outside vendor paid by HSB.

This example summarizes actual losses and coverage. For all

Data Breaches Reach Record Levels

Data breaches are exposing more personal information than ever before. Watch groups report that tens of
millions of records were compromised in 2007 - a big increase over the previous year. They warn that
businesses and agencies should be more proactive in protecting the information such as credit card numbers
that they keep on customers and others. Once a data breach occurs, it can be expensive and tarnish a
company's reputation. A coalition of business, security and government agencies offers
tips and related links to help
protect personal data from identity theft and fraud.
HSB offers a Data Compromise program through other insurance companies to help
businesses respond to a breach of personal information. Contact us toll-free at 1-888-665-3688 for more
information.
Electrical Equipment Is A Leading Cause Of Structure Fires

When an electrical system breaks down, it's not only expensive to repair, but can be a disaster in terms of
fire loss. The National Fire Protection Agency reports that electrical malfunctions are a leading cause of
fires in homes and commercial buildings. From 1999-2002, fires caused by electrical distribution or lighting
equipment killed 240 people and resulted in more than $1 billion in damage, according to the NFPA. Like
other equipment, electrical systems need preventive maintenance. HSB offers your clients free information in
our Equipment Care online library.
Articles about the topic can be found in our technical Web journal,
The Locomotive.
