The chart below shows the frequency of air conditioning losses based on HSB claim data for the latest six-year period. As you would expect, AC breakdowns increase in warmer weather and peak in July when equipment works the hardest.
AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
Not only is an air conditioning breakdown inconvenient, an insured may be faced with costly delays in getting repairs completed when it's hot because contractors are so busy with other service calls.

Claims are reported every month, however, even January and February. Air conditioning may run year-round in automated office buildings, computer centers, production plants, public places and other locations.
