Daylight Saving Time is Early This Year, Are You And Your Clients Ready? Setting Clocks Ahead Sooner Could Create a Problem for Computer Controlled Equipment and Systems
Daylight Saving Time begins early this year and it could have an
effect on equipment.CLOCKS CHANGE TO SAVE ENERGY Beginning in 2007, Daylight Saving Time is extended one month for most of the United States, beginning at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in March to 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November. The change was set under the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which was primarily designed to reduce energy consumption in the country. NEW DATE CAN EFFECT SOFTWARE Unless action is taken, this change could affect computer software applications and many types of equipment and systems. Time sensitive processing equipment, alarms, boilers and other energy systems, HVAC controls and security systems are just some examples.
